Kids are Great

Haven't felt like stitching a whole lot this week so I did my next favorite thing....read. I had seen this book on another blog and it really appealed to me. Sorry, can't remember which blog...sometimes the blog surfing blurs after a while. It was very good and am waiting for my delivery of the next 2 books by the same author.

I should be finishing these....only a little more embroidery and then to put them together.

We have had a lot of snow around here ALL week. I miss seeing my own kids play out in it. (I don't miss the wet snow clothes after though). This little girl across the street was hiding in a snow drift while Dad tried to get her with snowballs....on her snow day off school.

So I decided I would post my grandkids latest pictures and wish they were all playing in the snow at my house! Here is Graham at his latest basketball game. (sorry, bad phone pic)

Six of the nine out to eat.

Jared with his violin in OKC.

Jordan at his finest....also in OKC.

I just thought I would throw this next pic in because it is so cute and because we don't have prairie dogs in Ohio. This was in Oklahoma where they are common....and very cute, I might add.

Giveaway

Jandi is having a great little giveaway over at her new address in blogspot. Seems she lost touch with friends when she moved and this is a good way for our community to spread the word where she is.

Sun and Fabric!

Vickie had made a really cute St. Patricks Day tablerunner and shared her pattern on her blog. She also offered for sale a couple of kits made up of her leftover fabric. I decided that I needed something for the "green day", so I contacted her to purchase one. In our emails we realized that we were only about a 1/2 hour from each other and decided to meet for the exchange instead of paying postage.

It was really nice to meet Vickie and know that we share the same interests! Her and I in front of some of our favorite things.

I added to my 30's stash and my new "green" kit.

And....the sun has been shining all day.... What more could I ask for?

Fun Day....and more snow

Yesterday was a holiday for schools, President's Day, and Mia was able to go to another sewing class. This time she made an apron. They learned how to do a nine patch for the upper part and she learned how to make a pocket also. She was so proud of her new apron.

Later in the day hubby and I watched her and her little brother, Oliver, while her mom went to school. She brought her apron over and wanted to cook us dinner. She has cooked at home so I let her do it all by herself. She really amazed me....this is what we had.
She is only 9 1/2 years old...I forget what these grandchildren can do at that age! And here is Oliver, Mia's brother....our youngest grandchild. He is 2 1/2.

A peak at my latest handwork. Can't reveal what this is about yet....will soon.

Quilt Shop Goodies

Yesterday my friend and I were supposed to go to a LQS, Polka Dot Pincushion, to see Amy Butler along with her new fabric line, patterns and a trunk show. She had to cancel, but we decided we needed a "fix", so we went anyway. It is a marvelous quilt shop...my first time there, and I will definitely go back. I love a quilt shop that has a lot of different styles of fabric and this one definitely did. Of course I spent some money. I needed 2 yards of background fabric for the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along I am in. The rest just needed to be taken home with me also!

And this is what they gave you when you checked out. Happy Valentine's Day!

Blocks and Books

I finally finished all of the blocks for the size of the quilt I want. Now to put them together and decide if I want borders and how I want to quilt it. One more granddaughter quilt almost done!
I have so many ideas and projects in my head lately. I need many more years and a lot of "snow days"!!
I also finished the latest Elm Creek Quilters book. I just love her books so much and have all of them. She usually comes out with a new one every April....I hope this year is no exception!

Me too, Terry

I was reading a friend's blog this evening and saw she was going to be a part of this new quilt along. Well, the rules and time frame involved really appealed to me....like it wasn't too much for my already overloaded sewing room. It sounds like a lot of fun, so I am in. I already have the jelly roll! Thank you to Moose Quilts for hosting.

Snow Day

If this wasn't the weekend, it definitely would have been a "snow day" for a lot of schools and businesses! We probably received about 12 inches in our area and we were on the edge of the front that went through Ohio....south of us got much more. It is a good day for staying in and sewing, reading, eating or all of the above.
I'm feeling better, but still a little "punky"....jammies sound good for all day....in fact, with a hooded sweatshirt that is what the outfit of the day is!

Feeling yucky....and a little better

I haven't been feeling well since Monday...actually it started hitting me last weekend and I went to the Dr. on Monday. I thought that it wasn't a regular old cold and I was right...a sinus infection. I felt worse Tuesday and even more worse on Wednesday. Thank goodness today was the beginning of "better".
I started sorting my wools for the group that I joined....Wool Crazy. These are some leftovers from projects and also, mostly, old apparel from the Goodwill that I felted and took apart. These squares look wonderful and I hope to get at least one completed...even one would be a cute wallhanging.

This is the book that we are using....gorgeous wool work!

I finally had an appetite and decided to make this recipe, Cheesy Chicken Chowder, that my hubby found in our local paper this week. Nothing like comfort food when you haven't been feeling well. It was very good.
