There were 3 guys pushing and pulling and 2 guys dumping the wheelbarrows of cement.
It was amazing to watch how they had control of this stuff that would soon harden and not be able to move anywhere. The head guy used his large board to smooth it out....like he was frosting a cake!
We put a shiny new 2010 penny in the cement around the corner from each of the 3 doors. If all of the grandkids had been here at the same time, we would have had 8 sets of handprints also!

I never heard of putting a penny in the concrete! What a cool idea! :0)
Our children put their hand prints in any concrete we put down with the date was agreat memorey for us, but not sure how the new owners of our old home think about them, but guess it is easy enough to skim over them.

what a great idea, wish i would have thought to do this when we built our garage/shop.
That's a great idea, I must keep it in mind!
lol, my boys would have thought of ways of retrieving the penny! When the boys were little, I did some sponging on the walls and put their handprints going up the stairs. You had to look closely to see them in the paint effect. Wonder if the new owners ever saw them
Oh. I love that idea of the penny! I will have to remember that for the next time we have concrete poured at the house.
Love the penny idea. how cute!
What a great way to remember when you built the barn. :) blessings, marlene
